Section of Social-ecological Interactions in Agricultural Systems (a joint professorship between UNI KASSEL and University of Göttingen) integrates theoretical frameworks and state-of-the art methods from the social and natural sciences. Concepts such as sustainability, resilience, complexity and transformations in social-ecological systems are addressed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. Research areas that are relevant for the project include: multifunctional rural landscapes – change and management; peri-urban areas and land-use developments; collaborative landscape planning and community development. The principal investigator has led and regularly participates in large-scale research projects, both at the national and European level, and including participation and leadership in integrated research projects within H2020 and previous research framework programmes (e.g., ESMERALDA, HERCULES, AGFORWARD).
